Assigned Entry #2: Slanted Reporting Quest

Think back to a time when you were sitting on your couch watching those morning news, really getting into them and getting interested on what they are saying. Without you even knowing, you might have been experiencing slanted reporting while watching. Many news channels are accused of reporting only one side of the story, and having incomplete reporting; meaning they are only reporting the side of the story they want you to know and believe. This has become more and more common lately with different news broadcast and many people are criticizing it. Being a news reporter is not easy at all. They have to try to stay neutral on the topic they are discussing, and not only lean to one side of the story.

A news channel that has took central stage for this type of reporting has been, Fox News. A topic that they talked about in their news, that became controversial, was when they allegedly said that Barack Obama was Muslim. Their reports, when they where talking about him only showed pictures of Obama with Muslim in a friendly manner, and they had many guest that also thought that our president was Muslim when discussing the topic. Even tough Fox News claims that they never said Obama is a Muslim, you can judge yourself by watching the clip below…

Fox news has also been accused for its tendency to support the Republican Party. If you don't believe me you need to watch these videos below!

Notice how the man in the back with the grey sweater is nodding his head in disagreement at .26 seconds.
Also when the reporter ask how many think John McCain did better with the economy, only 8 people raised their hand out of like 26 people! The reporter still said that half of them where in favor of John McCain when it was not true

Now watch this one! Notice how on this one everybody started laughing at the reporter becasue of how bias he was on his report.

  1. Hi Estefani,
For the first video you posted I agree on it being slanted reporting because the reporters do not present any outside evidence such as specific quotes, or testimonials on what they were reporting. The word choice chosen and the repetition of them asserting that president Obama was muslim. In the second and third video you posted it was more than clear that they were stretching the truth for the republican side.
